September is Library Card Sign-up Month!
September is Library Card Sign-up Month, a time when libraries and the education community – including both public and school libraries – join together to encourage families to sign up for a library card.

Signing up for a library card is an important step that contributes toward a lifetime of learning.  The New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE), the New Jersey State Library, the New Jersey Library Association and the New Jersey Association of School Libraries are launching a new program, Libraries=Success, with a goal of encouraging students, especially those in middle school, to sign up for their very own library card.

In addition to promoting public libraries, the NJDOE is funding EBSCO databases so students have access to research tools such as magazines, encyclopedias, reference books and images.

More information about the availability of these resources, as well as the Libraries=Success campaign, is available on the State Library’s website.

We believe these partnerships between school libraries and local public libraries will help improve children’s access to information, improve their academic growth, and foster a lifetime love of learning.
